Dental x-rays are a type of picture of the teeth and mouth. X-rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation, just like visible light. They are of higher energy, however, and can penetrate the body to form an image on film.
X-ray pictures can show cavities, cancerous or benign masses, hidden dental structures (such as wisdom teeth), and bone loss that cannot be seen during a visual examination. Dental X-rays may also be done as follow-up after dental treatments.
The test is performed in our dental office are two types of x rays
- Bitewing
- Periapical
The bitewing is when the patient bites on a paper tab and shows the crown portions of the top and bottom teeth together.
The periapical shows one or two complete teeth from crown to root and the surrounding structures.
The dental x ray unit at our clinic is worlds one of the best x ray units imported from Italy with digital a timer. This helps us get clear cut image of your tooth in 0.2 to 0.6 seconds thus cutting down on your radiation exposure to very minimal levels (Almost as low as cosmic radiation in open air).
Also special attire is provided to pregnant ladies so as to further reduce radiation exposure to the infant.
