CARE AFTER EXTRACTION
- Remove cotton placed in the extracted area after 45 minutes.
- Slight bleeding in the area may be seen, which will stop soon. If heavy bleeding persists the doctor immediately.
- Application of ice-packs helps to control the bleeding.
- Slight swelling can occur at the sight of extraction.
- Avoid hot food for two days.
- Remnants of food particles getting in to the extraction area may cause infection and severe pain. Consult your doctor.
- Avoid use of tobacco/Alcohol during the day of extraction and during period of medication.
- If the extracted area is sutured, get it removed at the next appointment itself as advised by your doctor.
- Take the prescribed medicines in the right dosage at the right time itself.
Wisdom Teeth Removal
Wisdom teeth may need to be extracted if they affect other teeth – often referred to as “coming in sideways” or “impacted wisdom teeth”.
This failure to erupt properly may occur either because there is not enough room in the jaw for the tooth, or because of its abnormal position. Some of the problems associated with impacted wisdom teeth include: bacteria and plaque build-up, cysts development, tumour development, infection and jaw and gum disease.
If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, please make anappointment as soon as possible:
Intense pain and soreness in the mouth (possibly radiating to the ear and/or throat)
Infection in the mouth
Facial swelling
Swelling of the gumline in the back of the mouth
